The Queerblr is Back From Hiatus!

Hail and well met, fellow readers, watchers, and players!

Ahem. Wow. I think I’ve gone too far into a deep dive of D&D Tiktok content lately. Let me start again.

Hi Everyone! I’ve missed all of you in the time I’ve been away from The Queerblr. And lord was 2021 A Y E A R. Long time readers already know this but if you’re new here, I’m back after taking pretty much all of 2021 off. 2021 was a hard year for a lot of reasons, reasons I’m not about to get into on the internet, especially on a website I created for LGBTQIA+ media reviews and not my personal life. What I will say is that moving into 2022 I’m all about reconnecting with the things that bring me joy in life to make sure I’m taking care of myself and my mental health needs. That means more reading, watching, and playing queer media and getting back into my writing; and if I’m writing about the queer stuff I’ve been enjoying, well then that’s just a double whammy of joy!

Effective January 19th, The Queerblr will officially be back from hiatus!

I’m kicking things off with a review of Bloody Spade, by Brittany M. Willows! I’m enjoying what I’ve read so far and can’t wait to share more about this book with you.

If you haven’t already read the book, be sure to go and snag a copy from Bookshop.org, Barnes and Noble, Amazon, or your favorite book seller so we can compare our experiences in the comments of the review!

And while you’re at it, swing on by Kickstarter and check out the Bloody Spade: Companion Artbook & Collector’s Edition campaign and back it if you’re feeling fancy! I have. And after reading Bloody Spade, you’ll want this art book, too. Trust me.

That’s not all! I already have two other books slotted for review in February (Silver-Lined Secrets, by Aleksander Petit, and Leveling Up, by Jazzy Mitchell) as well as 12 books that I advertised on twitter that I will be reviewing this year:

From Top to Bottom, and Left to Right, the books are:

  • Windfall, by Shawna Barnett
  • Felix Ever After, by Kacen Callender
  • Pirates of Aletharia, by Britney Jackson
  • Gearbreakers, by Zoe HanaMikuta
  • Iron Widow, by Xiran Jay Zhao
  • Honey Girl, by Morgan Rogers
  • The Unbroken, by C. L. Clark
  • The Jasmine Throne, by Tasha Suri
  • Thorn Fruit, by Felicia Davin
  • Delilah Green Doesn’t Care, by Ashley Herring Blake
  • The Wheel of Fortune, by Kirke Vincent
  • Traitors of the Black Crown, by Cate Pearce

I am beyond excited to share these 15 stories and so many more with you in the coming months. I feel a bit rusty but my excitement is quickly helping me loosen the gears and get back into the swing of things.

As always, feel free to follow me over at Twitter @Queerblr if you want more up-to-date information on what I’m reading, what I’m obsessed with (spoiler alert, it’s a lot of Cute Mutants and Tales of Inthya over there right now), and a peek into my day-to-day life if you’re interested. I’ve also started a TikTok account with the same username where I intend to start doing more “booktok” content! Spicing things up this year!

So here’s to a happy 2022, y’all! See you back here on January 19th!

With all my love,

Bren B.
